Measuring for a TV

When selecting furniture to be used as a Media Center, be sure to take the following into consideration. What size is your TV? Is it a Flat Panel or Tube TV? Do you have additional components, such as a DVD Player to be used with your TV? Do you want additional display areas? Do you want additional storage areas? Do your electronics need additional space for ventilation. Do you want to be able to close up your media center for a cleaner look or have your electronics displayed?

Tube TVs have more depth to them because of the picture tube and casing. They are usually heavier and bulkier in size and may require more support and will require more depth.

Flat Panel TVs are just that, they are more flat than the traditional Tube TV. They may require more width when selecting a piece of furniture to house them. They are thinner and do not require as much depth as a Tube TV.

Helpful Hints

Remember, there are no “Standard” sizes for Televisions. Just because the manufacture states it is a 32” Television, they may be measuring only the screen and not including the casing or speakers, etc.

Measure the unit yourself using the examples below. Be sure to measure from the absolute widest, highest and deepest points of the set. Be sure to include attached speakers or bases.

If you have further questions, contact your local authorized American Drew retailer, they will be glad to help!
